    Rocco DeLorenzo

    Recent Graduate of Cornell University

Rocco DeLorenzo distinguished himself at Cornell University by pursuing a dual major at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management. He focused on Food Science with a business concentration and Applied Economics and Management with a specialization in strategy and food industry management. His educational pursuits were geared towards understanding both the scientific and business dimensions of the food industry, enabling him to merge these two worlds effectively.

    Fraternity Life and Student Governance

Rocco's journey at Cornell was not limited to academics; he was deeply involved in student life, significantly marked by his membership in the Chi Psi Fraternity. He quickly became an integral part of the fraternity, finding a second home and taking on critical roles such as Risk Manager and Academic Chair during his sophomore and junior years. These roles laid the groundwork for his future endeavors within the larger Cornell community.

In his sophomore year, Rocco expanded his influence by serving as the VP of Membership and Alumni Development on the Cornell Interfraternity Council (IFC) Executive Board, a body governing 28 fraternity organizations. This role allowed him to implement substantial programs, including comprehensive Hazing Prevention Training and a community-wide Spikeball Tournament, fostering greater fraternity cohesion.

    Pioneering Safety Initiatives

The need for enhanced safety measures became apparent when Rocco was confronted with a drug overdose incident within the IFC community. He promptly established a partnership to provide Narcan Training and distribute Naloxone, setting a precedent for future university-wide adoption of these critical safety measures.

    Crisis Management and Community Safety

In response to sexual assault allegations within the IFC community in November 2022, Rocco acted swiftly to convene an emergency meeting that led to the temporary suspension of all social activities. His leadership was crucial in developing a Sexual Violence Prevention plan focused on Environmental, Empowerment, and Educational interventions, which garnered significant support across the university.

    Financial Stewardship in Student Assembly

Beyond his fraternity roles, Rocco also served as the Vice President of Finance on the Cornell Student Assembly, where he was responsible for managing the Student Activity fee-setting process during an inflationary period. His meticulous approach resulted in a detailed financial analysis and the approval of an increased activity fee to support student organizations better financially.

National and Local Contributions Beyond Cornell

Rocco's influence extended beyond Cornell as he joined the North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC) Advisory Council, contributing to national policy formulation and resource development for fraternity governance. Locally, he was involved with the Food Marketing Fellows honors program, engaging with industry leaders and enhancing his professional network.

    Recognitions and Honorary Societies

His contributions and leadership were recognized through his election to prestigious societies such as the Order of Omega Honor Society and the Der Hexenkreis Senior Honor Society, as well as his receiving accolades like 1st Place in the Northeast Greek Leadership Association Order of Omega Case Competition.

    Practical Work Experience

During his summers, Rocco applied his academic insights through internships with leading food industry companies. His roles ranged from a Quality Control Intern at Giovanni Foods to an Ingredient Technology Intern at Mondelēz International and, later, an Operations Leadership Development Program Intern at Restaurant Brands International.
